Finding a fertility practice should not mean bracing for an awkward conversation. Our patients include same sex couples and people coming to us on their own, and the intake is the same for everyone: what brought you here, what you want to build, and which route makes sense for your bodies and your circumstances, cost included.

Routes to parenthood

Which route fits depends on your situation, and Dr. Jacob will walk you through it at your first visit. These are the paths our patients most often take.

  • Two mothers

    Many couples start with intrauterine insemination, which is the simpler and less expensive route. If IUI is not the right fit, or does not work, in vitro fertilization is the next step.

  • Two fathers

    Building a family as two men involves a donor egg and someone to carry the pregnancy. The donor egg part is ours: we recruit our own donors and you can search our donor egg database. You find your own carrier, and we work with the carrier you choose.

  • Building a family on your own

    Coming to a fertility practice single is common and it is not treated as unusual here. The starting point is usually an evaluation, then IUI or IVF depending on what that evaluation finds.

  • Preserving fertility for later

    If parenthood is something you want to keep open rather than start now, eggs, sperm and embryos can all be frozen and stored. Our laboratory handles preservation and storage on site.

The donor egg program is our own. We recruit our egg donors directly, and women in same sex relationships and recipient couples can search our donor egg database and select the eggs that are right for them.

How the first few months go

  1. You get in touch

    Use the form on this page or call the office. Tell us roughly where you are in the process, including if the answer is that you have only just started thinking about it.

  2. Evaluation and testing

    Before anyone recommends a treatment, we look at what is actually going on. That means testing for the partner or partners who will be involved, and reviewing anything you have had done elsewhere.

  3. You and Dr. Jacob choose a route

    The choice depends on the cause, on your age and circumstances, and on what the treatment options cost. You will get the cost of each option we propose and the trade offs between them, not just a recommendation.

  4. Treatment, with the same team

    Monitoring, laboratory work and the procedure itself happen here, with people you have already met.

Questions we are asked often

Do you treat same sex couples?
Yes. Same sex couples are part of our practice and have become parents through our care. One of the couples on our success stories page wrote that as a same sex couple they always felt welcomed and that the whole staff was rooting for them. Another review on that page describes the staff as very lgbt friendly.
Where do we start if neither of us has a fertility problem?
You still start with an evaluation. It is not there to find something wrong, it is there to tell us which route is likely to work and how quickly, so you are not spending time or money on a step you did not need.
Is IUI or IVF the right first step for two women?
For many couples IUI is the place to start because it is simpler and costs less. Whether it is right for you depends on what the evaluation shows. Dr. Jacob will explain why he is suggesting one over the other.
Do you run a surrogacy program?
No. Couples find their own gestational carrier and we work with the carrier they choose. We do not match carriers, and the legal side of a carrier arrangement is substantial and belongs with your attorney rather than with us. The donor egg side is ours: we recruit our own egg donors, and recipient couples can search our donor egg database.
Do you take insurance?
We accept most major insurance, including United Healthcare and Cigna. Fertility coverage varies a great deal between plans, so it is worth asking us to check yours before you make any decisions.
